I went to check the caliper bolt torque(30lbs).
And Bently said lock plate should be there.
There are none on mine on both sides.
How many of you guys have them?
I'm going to look around some tomorrow. _________________

Saying that specs are different than dimensions doesn't make sense. Porsche specs/VW specs/engineering specs are nothing but a series of dimensions, sizes, percentages, measurements, etc. |

The fold-over tabs are usually *toast* on the
locking plates after years of use/abuse.
If nothing there, at least use properly sized
lock washers under the caliper mounting bolts. _________________ ****************************

Worst case, make your own using some thin metal -- OR -- safety wire the bolts. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |

The little tabs generally are broken off. I just put some locktite on mine, but the best option is to safety wire the bolts |

Oh come on! Someone out there has a box of 'em and has no idea what they are! I've been looking for the same lock plates for my '70 Ghia. KGP&R doesn't even have 'em... hard to believe that they wouldn't repro these simple, low tech lock plates (hint, hint Scott D.). I was just in Europe last week and BBT didn't have 'em or a source. I think they have a 311 part number, or does someone have the correct part number.
I have a buddy who is an awesome fabricator, and as a last resort I'll probably beg him to make me a couple out of the correct gauge sheet metal, but I'm still hoping that someone out there turns up a box of these lock plates...

CSP makes them, you can order them through Machine7 in England, or directly from CSP in Germany. Pretty pricey though with shipping. CIP1 carries a lot of CSP products, maybe they would be willing to add them to their selection for USA? Here's the link for Machine7:

It would be better if someone like you reproduced them and sold them rather than relying on someplace like KGP&R. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |

If they are really the same as Type 3 ones, I might have some in my stash of NOS Type 3 parts. If someone is serious about repro'ing them, you can borrow them.
They are so simple though, you probably don't need a template...
Now that I think about it, I thought they came brand new when you buy caliper rebuild kits from NAPA or where-ever? I know I had some rebuild kits I bought at Pomona one time and new ones were in there. _________________ How to Post Photos
