Just in case anyone wants to see some data- I did a weigh in with the new Doka- so this is for a 14" Doka, with a high vindic, and some tristar looking options (e.g. the diamond plate in the bed). 3,780 lb total, which is a little less than I expected and had seen online.

Hey Otis that looks great! Can I ask what the purchase price was and shipping? Is this a Syncro 16? You can pm if you prefer.

Syncronista Dokanauts!
What gives here? I have several hundred photos of Syncro Dokas and I have never seen the setup of fuel filler bezels as seen in this video:
https://youtu.be/iLoLvJe45Ek?si=fZ7jzLPxKWQc-Qdt
He appears to have both a bezel in the 2WD model location and the bezel exclusive to the Syncro vans, but none in the typical (universal) Syncro Doka position?
This appears to be a RHD vehicle and with what looks like a South African lower grill. The name of the video is Gordon Craig, also referred to elsewhere on the Internet as Gordon Graig - some suggesting he was Australian. Regardless, I have never seen this setup.
Anyone know about whether this was any kind of a standard setup or if it was a custom job? Why two filler bezels?
BTW I love that short video as it nicely demonstrates the Syncro Doka's capabilities.

| South african fellow. Doka was converted. The second filler was probably for a second coffin gas tank, that was more popular range extending mod at the time. |

Hi Tony, I got it off of the classifieds here for $23k. Shipping was $2500 in a shared 45' container from Bremerhavn to Oakland.
I recently resold the doka to a friend of mine in Austin and bought a nice Syncro single cab that I have wanted for a long time to replace it. _________________ 1978 Sage Green P22 Westfalia

Hey gang, I have a 1987 syncro doka diesel, posted earlier asking for info on the gas strut to support the engine "door". Does anyone have a picture and part number for this?
My doka has the small ball piece attached to the engine door, but I have not seen how the strut would attach to the engine compartment. Maybe another
ball attachment with a mounting bracket or something? Assistance would be appreciated. Thanks! _________________ 1987 2wd Westy "Vanny" 2.5 RMW Subaru

From ETKA:
I surmise that the bottom attachment point should be in there somewhere, as it is not a numbered item, but who knows, ETKA not always known for it's crystalline clarity or perfect accuracy...
My Syncro Doka only had the #4 spring retainer and not the gas strut, but I think it may have the ball pin (8a)??
Unfortunately my Doka is tucked away for the winter so no possibility of checking it out right now.
The strut is available here: https://www.mybusparts.de/en/service-flap-damper-doka-flatbed-suitable-for-vw-t3.html, but you probably could find a cheaper alternative.

That is super helpful, Eric!
My Doka is missing the bottom attachment bracket part. I could probably find something to work but was curious where this bracket gets mounted inside of the engine bay?
Any pics available? Thanks! _________________ 1987 2wd Westy "Vanny" 2.5 RMW Subaru

Thanks TarandusVdub. If you have the gas strut for your doka engine hatch, and can get a picture of the lower attachment bracket, that would be excellent.
I have a line on the strut, but my truck does not have any sort of bracket for the bottom of the strut. There seems to be a location to mount a bracket, a couple recessed spots in the metal. I am also going to call around to some of the Bus parts suppliers to try and source this lower attachment bracket.
Thanks again! _________________ 1987 2wd Westy "Vanny" 2.5 RMW Subaru

My bad. I don't have the strut. Sorry! Here is a pic of my brace in case it's helpful.

I thought I'd post a few more photos of my 16" for fun. We now have 3 dokas in town, 2 are syncros and one is 2WD. Trying to get monthly meetings going again by rotating to local brew pubs. Lots of pubs, so am hopeful we can keep people motivated!
Most recent projects have been replacing a lot of the ignition related components as i was having running problems. Distributor cap, plugs, wires, breather tower seal, throttle body. Next I replaced all the fuel lines and rails in the engine compartment and upgraded to pinch clamps.
