Erwin, My DoKa came without power steering too. I really don't have any problem at all. I know the steering wheel is huge but apart from that it works really well. The main reason I would stay with no power steering is weight and more torque being used up by the pump. I realized that the more stuff I add to my truck the more it weighs. Remember you will need a new steering rack, pump, pump bracket, hoses all the way back, reservoir tank and pulley.
I do like the idea of a Tristar interior though. I can live with that extra weight. |

Hej Erwin!
Beautiful Doka, I think I recognize it Good to see it's in good hands. Marsala red is one of the best T3 colors in my opinion, looks great. Hope to see it live at some point! |

Hi there,
Nice thread, so I thought it’s about time to introduce my Doka.
It’s a 1989 rust free 14" 2.1 DJ Sweden Doka, converted into a 16" 4-door TDI [afn] "syncromobil"
Cheers,
Volkmar |

Wow, Volkmar. That is the nicest doka setup ever.
Can you tell us more about the camper. Is it something that you made, or is it commercially available?
cheers,

Holy Toledo!!
That is an amazing DOKA. What engine, and weight of the camper? What sort of mods to suspension have you done to tote that camper around?

volkmar, cool factor = 10
What's the plexiglass/glass looking "aquarium" in the camper? Having a removable camper on a doka makes a lot of sense. You get a capable "work" truck, and a better camper out of that deal. Awesome.
Very sneaky but I wonder how many will notice the top raises too? _________________ Cheers,

Thanks for all the compliments!

The camper is 100% self-designed and most of it is self-made. The only thing that was made by a professional company is the "shelter" (?).

1.9 TDI [afn] (Golf/Jetta/Passat)

1900 kg = 4200 lbs
2500 kg = 5500 lbs
ready to travel 3000 – 3200 kg = 6600 - 7000 lbs

It’s a custom made coil over suspension, front and rear shocks adjustable. Now available (just front shocks adjustable) @ gmb-mount.de
denwood wrote: |

That’s the upper part of the toilet/shower, mounted to the ceiling, so it can raise with the roof-part.

Good question

Volkmar
Do you enter the camper from inside the Doka? Did you make a special door? _________________ ________________________

Yes, there is only a sliding door inside the Doka. I made a removable rear panel, since I don’t like these little rear doors.

Is that allowed in Europe? I thought the max weight for T3s was 2500kg. _________________ 88 Westfalia Club Joker syncro AAZ i/c
