Hi guys,

Which would you rather have?

A plain Syncro doka or a 2wd Tristar w/5speed and 112hp DJ?

Syncro all the way home. If I had a 2wd tristar I would want to convert it to syncro Laughing Rolling Eyes

Just an FYI, if you need a latch cover for your treasure chest on your Doka or Sinka, Vancafe has them in stock.

That's a serious skid plate. Is it home brew or VW issue on Tristars?

Yep, it is VW standard issue, but just on the Tristar syncros, 2wd Tristars and non-Tristar syncros have the standard clamshell. I brought it back from Germany last month as checked baggage. Twisted Evil It does add a bit of weight to the front as it weighs in at 24.6kg

Thought all syncros had the skid plate style tire carrier and 2wds had the clam shell. Unless my 14" syncro VAN is an exception to the rule as it has the skid plate carrier?

I look at a car for what I use it 95 % of the time. I would take the 2 WD Tristar over a plain Jane Syncro any time. In fact I would buy the Tristar and put an Automatic in it. Call me crazy . I had a 5 speed 2 WD Tristar and hated it . Too much shifting . I drive my Syncro Tristar everyday and would love an automatic. I only have a Syncro because it is totally rust free ,and I will take shifting over rust repair any day .

Is there More than one factory skid plate?

I have one, but there are too many bolts to undo for it to be considered a tire carrier.

My Doka has a cutout under the back seat and a thing to hold the tire down.

Since there is no syncro van thread i'll post this here, IMO the coolest paint job i've seen on a syncro:

Hey Vwcrewman have you seen this posting? If you really like automatics (which I don't, I like the control of manual) you might like to look at this. The price is ridiculous, but the idea of a "new" Doka is intriguing.
If this were a Syncro or maybe a 5speed DJ, I'd think about trying to bargain them down.
