Just came across the post, hope the both of ya"ll chime in to give us an update for I see the post is from 2009, but like the fact that she did all the work herself and how the bug came out.
As for me, I was young when I did my Rail, so I have kept it all these years for it is mine and all mine, lol So, hope the bug is still in great running order, like to hear if you have done any updates or anything to it.
Way cool thread for sure, like the fact she tackled it herself and got it done, way cool.... Thanks for the Thread, a Positive Outlook on the Way the VW World can Go.. Way Cool........ RB |

I just found this post and was touched by its content. It's been a couple of years; is there an update?
Curious if she's still happily driving this car, moved on to another projects, etc.

Now that is one happy girl! Congratulations on a job well done. She has the "I did this!" grin in the pic standing beside the motor before it went in, and it just keeps on getting bigger. INSTALLATION
Well before we could even get started we had a minor set back. That old, tired 1600 broke a motor mount
So my daughter got to learn another valueable VW skill
All done

Time to take out the old motor, a very tired 1600.
With a little help from a friend and dad
Had to swap a few parts to the new motor
Firewall tarboard looked like crap so she decided it was a good time to put in a nice new one....so out with the old
In with the new

awesome, my wife built her 2110cc last year.
Still pisses her off when people ask me about it, I just tell them to ask her she built it
Some priceless looks with that one.
video the start-up so we all can see it. _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/jim_martin_engine_build.php
