My understanding is the black vacuum hose is 3.5mm ID, and the green hose is 4.5mm ID (#s 22 and 23 in the link below):
https://www.bughaus.com/beetle134.htm
I know the black is used for advance signal and green is retard signal on the DVDA distributors- the ports on both the distributor vacuum can and the carburetor conform to this. The green hose is also apparently correct for the venting on the fuel tank. I am not sure about the ports on either the intake or the air cleaner on later models as I have never had that setup- I'd go with the same as Zunddfolge's setup pictured above with the black hose from intake to air cleaner thermostatic valve and the green hose from thermostatic valve to snorkel. _________________ I'm the humblest guy on this board.

On European cars the green hose is red...
I know the green hose only for the retard signal on the DVDA distributors (which are very rare in Europe). _________________ AC:

Well there it is. 74 standard. Tips on dialing it in welcomed. PM me with examples. I don’t want to jam up this thread with opinions. The pulley nut stays

I have seen some engine bays without engine...
What about an engine without engine bay?

Xevin, other than that nut (which will poke your eye out), it’s a total beauty.

I already posted this in "what did you do to your bug today" thread. but considering there's a thread specifically for engine bays, here it is:
since then I have replaced that heater tube. _________________ 71 Super Beetle

SSSooo agree with your comment about that horrific pulley nut on Xevins engine.
You have a great looking engine. One note, your carb manifold rubber boot clamps are upside down. The screw/tightening portion of the clamp should be at the bottom so they don't cut your plug wires. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]
