Hi guys , I finaly decided to have my own topic about my dune buggy build up !! Just like many of you i love to watch dune buggy's build up and wanted to show you guys my black beauty coming together Smile ...
So I bought my first dune buggy 2 years ago...

Later on i figure out that my buggy was not in a good shape for driving on the road, the body was not bolt on correctly to the frame and the frame itself was not at is best also.

So I started my research and find out that Berrien buggy does new frame and new fiberglass so that's where my built up started... I bought a brand new frame , new body + side pods !! And yeah we love Coors Light Smile

Now that I had the frame I had to start learning how to built a dune buggy ! So i started on my side looking for parts and forum and find out TheSamba. I started to study dune buggy build up, looking at pictures every night to finally order my first parts from cip1.com and my build up started... We remove the motor from the old frame to install it on the new one! After that i had to remove all chrome parts on my 1600cc since the rust was starting to appear , so i took the pieces back home to clean them up.

More of my story to come with pictures Smile
P.S , Sorry if i make some mistake i talk really good in english but my writing is'nt the best Sad because my first language is french Smile

I had a chance to go see k1z4r's progress in person last night! That is going to be a sweet ride!

I must admit though, I think the mosquitoes are planning on stealing his frame! I don't think I've ever seen that many in one spot!

Merci d'avoir partagé tes idées!

If you get stuck on something, let me know...
Keep at it and we'll plan an outing when you're done...

I am still working on having my tires , for my mag !! Can't wait to install this , next time we will be working on the windshield and the gaz tank...

Do you guys install your windshield with the channel in the front or the rear , i know this uselly goes in the rear but do you recommend to turn it over , because im not sure yet but im think about getting that Sombrero top:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3...mp;start=0

Questionning my self , because to install the windshield on a Nostalgia , you need to bend 1 side of the windshield to fix it to the body ...

Looking good! Keep working and we can go for a ride soon!

For the steering column, the Berrien support is very good but if you want to fab one yourself, take a look at my install:

As for the windshield, the groove faces forward to allow the top to hook into the groove. You can also use the hidden bolt kit or make one:

It's not as easy to use on a Berrien bacause the angle on the right side but it's doable. Take your time and use lots of painters 3M blue tape to protect the gelcoat.

My Color is not on your list, they are great to work with. They can do an up charge, but the shop had enough of this color to do a complete body in stock so they did not charge me extra. They will not do any flake because of contamination if the powder gets loose.
