I have a Westfalia tow hitch Made in 1956 that I was going to use on my 64 bug but it is too narrow. I had a friend that was going to buy it for his 56 bug and it too was too narrow. So do the split bugs have a narrower Motor/Transmission Carrier (the 2 bars that come out the back that hold the transmission motor) than later beetles and if so what years did it go to? _________________ 61 single cab

Is there a difference with split case transmission and regular transmission carrier? _________________ 61 single cab

No difference. They are the same. Ar you sure that the hitch you have is for a Beetle and not for a Bus? _________________ Chris

Yea it must be for a beetle as the bus has the engine carrier in the way unless a barn door bus is missing it? And thanks for the reply. _________________ 61 single cab
