I have an NOS flat-topped oil cooler and I was planning on installing this on my rebuilt, stock July 1950 engine. Is this a bad idea? Do I need to use a domed-style oil cooler to have the right airflow for my engine?

The flat top was an improved design over the domed one and I have never heard or read anything stating that you shouldn't use it on a car that originally came with the dome top.

Both of my 36 hp engines have dome topped coolers installed for years now no issues. O f course if you have an NOS flat top I'd use that no one will know but you and maybe us Laughing
