Damn. I had only recently scourced a nice set of the silver/aluminium-coloured ones. _________________ www.melburgluft.com |

Ev's info is contradicting, I'd concentrate on the last sentance then you'll see you have the right colour arms! _________________

To be more clear, it seems like the 54-55s out there in the real world have black assemblies but the parts book states otherwise.
If you found thin-arm silver assemblies that is a good score, I seem to see black ones much more frequently.... if I see them at all. _________________ How to Post Photos

I have some NOS arms, bases and blades also. They are mostly in black, but I think there are some in silver also.
And I have one NOS cromed round arm, also. |

Hi Sean, as I am no barndoor man, I dont know what colour is right for you...I could look into it, but it would be much easier for you...
Well, here is a photo of the one with round arm that I got. If I understand it right, then this one should be for a 50-51?

Is there someone selling wiperblades for barndoors, or are NOS ones the only way? I need for my 54 panel. _________________ 54 Barndoor panel

I don't want to block anyone's sale but that is super expensive - more than some recent NOS ones by A LOT.
For reference the NOS ones did not have any linkage and I am not sure of the value of the linkage or if it is Barndoor only. |
the clamp is the hardest part to find
I saw one go for the same price of an average motor about 5 years ago($80)
So if a motor is worth $150 then maybe the clamp is also this amount _________________ Luca Brasi's got nothing on me

Is this motor with "one linkage rod" incomplete or the way it is supposed to be?
Then only the drivers windshield is wiped with this arrangement? _________________ Buy the best. Cry once.

Thanks for the info Everett, I have no idea of the actual prices so its good to compare with the NOS prices.

Yes it is. There is another rod that pops onto the ball socket pin shown. That rod can be sourced from a non barndoor if needed. _________________ 53 Canadian standard oval

Then I guess that the other rod that pops onto the ball socket is pretty standard. I would love to see a link to that part in some web shop to see correct form and price. _________________ Buy the best. Cry once.

I've found some manuals regarding the wipers as this for example:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/swf_wiper_motor.php
but none showing how the complete wiper motor assembly looks like, including the shafts, grommets, push rods, etc.
I would love to see a pic. The reason is I need everything, the bus has just the empty plugged shaft holes and nothing else.
If someone could post a pic or link to a site it would be highly appreciated.
In this old ad the shafts can be seen:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1275041
and I guess the push rods from the motor to the shafts are pretty straight.
The push rods are not visible still the ad says "complete".
It would be good to have the whole picture (no pun intended). _________________ Buy the best. Cry once.

That's what I'm talking about.
Great, thanks a lot. My 'wiper motor' project is picking up steam!
Regarding the shafts I have asked this seller
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1399399
but it doesn't look to me like they are correct shafts for a bd.
Since Trevor said earlier in the thread that the rod can be sourced from a non bd if needed then the missing links are the shafts + grommets. _________________ Buy the best. Cry once.
