I did some work recently on my heat system and was sad that I couldn't find a blumaxx blower anywhere. Did they stop making them? I found a lot of cheaper blowers like that, but nothing decent.

Well would be sad if they are no longer available. Crying or Very sad I certainly think the Blumaxx is a step ahead of the rest.

There are a few 4 inch versions up on eBay right now, but that's all I could find.

Id purchased one of these years ago and just recently got around to installing it. Now that we are in our full on rainy season, I couldn't be happier with it. The stock system works - eventually, but it's always been a PITA that it isn't really helping until you've driven for 15 minutes.

I mounted mine inside the belly pan area nearest the front - which makes it a little loud but it works and that's all I care about.

Yesterday I ended up driving through a VERY flooded street on the way to work and the Bluemaxx is still going strong. I had it running at the time that I crossed the water and while it changed it's tone for a little while, once it was dry it still works/sounds exactly as it did before.

It's a shame they didn't last as they are excellent.

This looks to be a copy of the Blumaxx. It is fairly expensive and I don't see a brand name anywhere. Might be worth a call at least.

I installed some bilge blowers in the storage area under the seat of MY 69 DOKA

I by bypassed the engine fan. I ran PVC pipes under the bed and recirculated air from the cab. It worked well but was very loud. Eventually the fans failed and I went back to stock

I might try it again with an RV fan

I thought my BluMaxx was done for, last spring it had started making noise and didn't seem to be doing much and this past fall it quit altogether. I finally poked around the van to see what was wrong with it. The stock heater booster fan relay and fuse which I had used to power the Blumaxx seemed to be doing their job as was the ballast resister I had added to slow the Blumaxx down to quiet it up. Jumping the plug on the relay showed the fan was drawing enough current to make a spark when the connection was made so I didn't have much hope that the fan was still alive and if it was I would find that the housing had distorted from the heat and locked the fan.

I then crawled under the front and loosened the clamps holding the Blumaxx to the duct and dropped it down and was surprised to see a clump of mud fall out and then some small pieces of gravel and a couple of wood chips. An inspection of the fan itself showed another wood chip jammed between the fan blades and the housing, which I dislodged by spinning the blade with my fingers. Now hopping into the driver's seat and turning the key and pushing down on the heat lever netted me the purr of the fan spinning in the housing.

I will probably drop the center tube to see if there are any nesting materials in it, but the small amount that was in the fan could well have come in through the pillar vents when I was driving through brush as is my want. Been through a couple of brief haboobs with the rig as well. Every thing was small enough to have easily passed through the vanes of the cooling fan.

The moral of the story is that the Blumaxx is now over 8 years old and still working, it shows no signs of heat damage and doesn't even seem to have been badly bothered by being jammed for this past winter all the while having power flowing through the coils of the motor when the heat was on high. Too bad these don't seem to be available anymore. Sad

I have something that looks like one of these attached to the heater ducting under the belly pan.

https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/beQAAOSwll1ac6TY/s-l640.jpg

It is wired to a 3 speed switch on the dash. It works very well for what it is but it is loud when set to high. I assume my dad installed it probably 15 years ago at this point. Works great for defrost.

Assuming that can handle the heat, it would be a great choice as it has the correct "hand" to align to the duct work where most blowers I have seen have the opposite hand. Do you have the actual ebay listing?

Shrugs.....my dad installed it probably 25-30 years ago and it still works perfect.

Its attached to a 3 speed rotating switch on the dash.

Just ran into this and have no more info than what is shown. Don't know what the impeller is made from but the housing is metal. Maybe one of our friends on the east side of the pond would check it out for us:

Here is a PA6 nylon blower that should be able to handle the temperatures well:

Here is a source for what appears to be the actual Blumax blower that I used.

https://marine-shop.ro/product/5354/blower-blumax-3.html

Assuming this Blumax is of the same quality as the one I bought a dozen years back, if one copies my entire system this blower should give good life. Can't make any promises of how long it will last unless my entire setup is copied.
