ok,so i started this thread because i find these buses really interesting. it would be great to post vins and similarities between these buses. in august apparently the new colors were introduced as well as new interior schemes but some of these buses retained the old bumpers as well as high tailights.
ive never seen any factory literature picturing these buses so it might be interesting if that were to be found and posted here.

so please post your pics of these beasts and hopefully vins, rumors of them existing are welcome,im interested in any of the models and even the high tailight non pressbumper buses

heres my wreck,a 15 window vin # 374955

69doublecabs sept? 58 high tailight/pressbumper 23 (this is the only one ive ever heard of or seen) no vin # info, some serious hodgepodge welding work on this one, apparently has been grafted to an incorrect later bus/chassis

I do not know anything about this bus, but I'm sure some of our friends "down under" could do a little digging for us as it was sold on AUS ebay.

right hand drive, semaphore, pressed mango.

this walkthrough panel is believed to be original pressed bumper bus, and original paint. This guy is local to me, and I hope to see this bus in person sometime.

I photographed and oogled over this bus at kelly park/red barn this year. Incredibly solid and original.

this is another RHD semaphore pressed mango out of australia from the user "nicko" .

supposedly australian buses got pressed bumpers until may of '59? can anyone confirm this? I suppose since many buses were built in aussie factories in that time period, that they could have had a large stockpile of pressed bumpers and used them up?

ok,so a few questions and interesting things about these buses

-they all seem to have the indented newer model forward cargo drs (makes me wonder if my bus had the indented dr too)

-my bus is from canada i believe since it has the volkswagen sticker/decal on the decklid hanger,i thought i remembered jeremys bus having it too? are any of the other transitional buses that hail from canada and does that mean anything at all?

-my bus has the #10 painted on the right wheel well,i poked around my other buses and found they didnt have this, neils 58 15 has #18 in the same spot...so is this a deluxe thing? do the 2 transitional 23s have this? do the mango 58s have this? whats its meaning?

-do the commercial transitional buses with pressbumpers come with silver white bumpers/wheels? anyone seen a kombi, singlecab or panel with silver white pressbumpers/wheels?

-there seems to be several mango versions built in the transitional era.....anyone seen/heard/photographed a sealing wax/beige grey standard with pressbumpers?

and i cant find a picture of the mango pressbumpered "ice cream" bus, anyone got pics of it?

Check with Stacey Z. He has a super nice August of 58 standard that I think is originally from Canada. I remember communicating with him by mail back in the early 90's and he has pictures of it when it was pulled out of the field.
Here are pix from his gallery.

Looks like it has the smaller inner cargo door handles with an indented front cargo door.

i will do that, the subject of the inner dr handles is a strangeone......it seems that standards/commercials had the early inner handles both front drs and cargo drs....but the deluxes had the new bigger inner dr handles as early as jeremys and im guessing my bus

please feel free to school me on this but im thinking back to all the original 59/60 deluxes ive seen had these handles, while the standards/commercials didnt,at least the ones ive had (alot)

Howdy, the serial # of my Aug. 58 Mango is 378575 (Aug 13, delivered to Canada). It should have the silver white bumpers, but when I had it painted in 1990 I didn't know and went with the Palm Green scheme. The metal is all original, so the indented forward cargo door is correct, and the interior is all original as well, so the early handles are the originals.
