From my gallery.
other pics also in my gallery. I ad them as I work on it.
I know that some desire Rust and Rot as Original, but Rust and Rot to me is Rust and Rot. I am trying to stop the bus from rusting into nothingness. _________________

This is an August 58 truck. I don't recall the VIN # exactly though. Looks to be white paint showing through on the front bumper. The new owner put early tail lights in there when he did the bodywork. _________________ nothing |

I think he either changed the decklid or cut a hole in the flat one. The truck is no longer in the 48 states so I can't inspect the bumper. The bumper got painted with the body repair.

yes my old panel was a december 17th of 1958 bus. high tail light, crankstart apron, grey front seats. |
Thats crazy but very cool only about 25 day older then my Jan 59 panel and had press bumpers and high tailights.
Did VW make all the busses at the same factory back then? How could this happen? _________________ My 59 panel plus 36hp valve covers http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/faster50/59%20panel/ |

you would have to show me pictures of the lower valance with unmolested original small slots and the front frame section for me to believe your january 59 bus had pressed bumpers.
BUT, according to "nicko" here on this site, australian buses got pressed bumpers until may of 59. Is this true? I have no idea, but it wouldnt surprise me _________________ drive your split. |

Yes, original pressed bumpers, Silver White. I do not remember the vin on the Jiffy. _________________ ---

My panel is all 59 no press bumpers low tailights crank and 36 only. Just supprised that a dec. still had it. Your old bus has to be the last run of all the 58`s. _________________ My 59 panel plus 36hp valve covers http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/faster50/59%20panel/ |

I have a September 58 unmolested SC with overrider bumpers and low tail lights.
Interesting to note that all evidence I've found points to trucks getting low tail lights at the same time as they got overriders - beginning of September 58.
Buses retained high tail lights through December 58, but not trucks. _________________ The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge

^^^this is my jan. 59 mango walk-thru
it's a later bumper, low taillight bus but it is straight shifter, crankstart apron bus and i'm told it had caramel snowflake kickpanels in it when it was found. not high taillight.

can't figure out how to post an image of my bus using my phone, my vin is 405771 currently in New Zealand - busses in NZ were generally CKD kits sent from Germany - it's a high taillight non pressed bumper - pics are in my gallery if anyone feels like posting them. From the vin I believe it's an early November bus but due to the ckd factor by the time it reached nz and got built it may have received the later updates. _________________ 71 1302s
