All glass, plus about 6 broken/cracked ones. I'll be bringing some to Lfeild.
It was cool to learn about this guy, he had some waaaaaaaay cool watches, Antique Hand Guns, old clocks.

Weird, but it doesn't look like there are any Hella markings on them? The badge with the eagle on it is for the German version of the AAA. Very cool, but you usually see it on Mercedes Benz grills.

Cru,

Any spare pedal pans for a '67 bus? I've got a customer looking for one and he'll be at L'field.

Well, 7 YEARS and 8 months later........................
I finally got most all of the Lititure from the Windsor Vt. stash of 2009, plus a few parts that I didn't get back then.....

The best of the Split Bus Lit stuff:

So the deal is, I ran into the guy that runs the "Foundation" a few months ago, he tells me he has the Lit. I have been waiting on for a loooong time, I meet him that weekend, get a bunch of Vanagon manuals & sales stuff Sad , and the Bumper, Friday he calls, says to come by, he is cleaning out the building that has parts in it, plus he found the "REAL" Lit. Laughing
Most of the parts were crap, a few good trinkets, lots of dead Trany gears, axle tubes , scrap steal, but the Lit. was great. Many pics of the Lit in my Gallery, the best was the brochure "Spacious" never seen that one........

A couple questions:
What are the little chrome looking clips to the right of the emergency flasher red knob, and any clue what the little air cleaner looking thing, above the door hinge covers goes to ??
I think the crank start bolt is cool, plus the trans housing thingy labeled GETRAG is neat, I'm guessing it's to bench run engines ??

Getrag is a German transmission manufacturer. That looks like a one or two speed transmission for a stationary engine. Probably agricultural or maybe for a rope tow.

I believe the getrag (still in business) is for running a PTO off a tractor but can also be used to run belts in a manufacturing context. You could probably repurpose it in to a test stand as well.

The things beside the emerg flasher look like coat hooks to me, but not one that I have ever seen on a VW. The air filter/oil bath thing looks like 1 of 2 dusty conditions oil baths but I would have to take a better look.

Nice score- good to see it is the gift that keeps on giving!

Those are definitely not VW, but probably an American thing that was purchased at a random hardware store. I have pulled a few sets off of buses, and they were usually used to hold on springs/wires for curtains on homemade camper setups.

Thanks Lind, I've seen them before, didn't think they were VW, but ya never know.

Thanks FarmerBill, cool info, I wonder if the ID tag would help finding out if it is a 2 spd or has reverse.

The Getrag tranny was for VW industrial motors as others have pointed out. Long ago we pick up one at the Maine show (in Auburn like long ago). The story that came with it is it ran a water pump in a granite quarry in NH.

Late 1950's GM coat hooks originally, but you find them on lots of things.

I have figured out transmission ratios in the past by putting paint marks on the shafts and counting input turns to output turns. I find that's the quickest way to figure out gears/reverse on these kind of low production things, just start throwing levers and turning by hand.
This one looks like a one speed with a clutch lever, some stationary transmissions I have dealt with have a second gear that can be changed by swapping a gear or changing the output shaft/final gear assembly. Most of the gearboxes like this I've seen have been American or Italian though. Definitely very cool, there can't be more than a handful of these left around.

The little air filter looks like it's from a smog pump for a type 4. I haven't seen more than maybe two and they were both on 914's.
