Getting ready to install windows. Have ?

I will be installing my windows soon and I just need a little clarification in one thing. The headliner material that folds over the window seal flange, does the rubber seal just go over it or does some of it need to be trimmed off beforehand?

The rubber goes over the headliner and holds it in place. There is about 1/4" of material overlapping the OUTSIDE of the car. It is glued by the factory then the rubber goes over it.
