What's up TheSamba? Been a while. I've been Dub-less for a while but will soon have a '69 Fastback! I'm getting it from my brother. Man, once you have VWs in your blood, it's hard to shake!
Take care,

Thank eschmidt14,
Yah, I had a '67 bus for a while but had to sell 'er to pay bills and get something more "practical." I have kids and surf; it was perfect. A SB would be good, too. BUT, this '69 Fasty if available to me from my borhter. It'll be good to have a \X/ again! _________________ Michael

Thanks Mike. I finally gave the outside a bath. It's pretty straight, really. It is rusted in front of both doors. It's going to be a slow process getting 'er on the road as I have zero free time.
I didn't used to be a Fasty fan but the look is really starting to grow on me. Sporty and cool. _________________ Michael

Got 'er running today! Running rough and won't idle. I just eye-balled the timing and set the adjustment screws on the little Webers at 1 1/2 turns out. When I have a little time, I'll do a more thourough "tune up." BUT, I have a feeling the carbs have issues.
I took 'er around the block... feels different than any \X/ I've driven (Ghia's, Bugs, Busses). I like it! _________________ Michael

BTW, I was looking underneath. The pan looks good! Not even rotted under the battery. YEAH! _________________ Michael

Here's a shot of my youngest (almost 4) checking under the hood for me! As you can see, it's a new motor. BUT, I can't get 'er to run right...very rough, won't idle. I think the "rebuilt" carbs are toast. Know anyone in the Ventura/So Cal area who's REAL affordable and good at working on (baby) Webers?
Thanks,

You may need a balance tube between the 2 sides.
I reuilt blankmanges engine, and could not get it to idle right, until I ran a hose between the 2 sides of the manifolds.
And his were ICT carbs. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Hum, worth a check... The carbs are still suspect. My brother rebuilt them...he's a singer, not a mechanic! _________________ Michael
