I am contemplating a Vanaru conversion v a Bostig conversion. Plenty of Bostig talk out there but not a lot of Vanaru.
Anyone in the DC general area with any Vanaru conversion I could talk to?

Maybe call up Vanaru to see if they can offer some customer references. _________________ Time Travel Enthusiast.. |

Of the 5200 + members of this group there's bound to be somebody in your area willing to show and tell. Absolutely the best source of information on this conversion as well. Good luck. Joel

I had Hans from Vanaru do a conversion for me this spring. I have put over 5000 trouble free miles since April. The Westy is a pleasure to drive now, passing trucks while climbing mountians. The engine is smooth, quiet, gets better MPG, and a lot more power. I'm very happy with it. My only problem is keeping my camping equipt in the luggage rack at high speeds. I reccomend installing bigger brakes with this conversion. _________________ 91 Vanaru westy

Same with me. Not much to be said, really.
It's still a demanding conversion: you need to plan more trips and longer trips afterward!

I have a Vanaru kit in my 88 Westy Auto for over 2 years now with plenty of miles. No regrets at all, the only issue I have always had is a slight surge at idle. I tried to upgrade as much as I could afford at the time of the install, ss coolant lines, radiator, etc. I do agree with the advice of bigger brakes, you get addicted to the extra power quickly then realize you have to stop. Good luck. |

You know you can easily fix that for 35$. enginewiring.com
There is a VSS fix that just plugs to the ECU (easy to do).
It sends a signal to the ECU and you will not have any surge or stall when coing to a stop from a highway for example.
See the website. /products. you only need to know your engine year.
