I got a questions about fitting a 1600 cc engine to my stock 1961 tranny. will the 1600 engine bolt up and run with my stock tranny ? i plan on keeping the 6 volt flywheel / clutch/starter, Will i have any problems or will i need to get a late model tranny and rear end ?

You can install any 1938 on up to today produced upright VWAC engine with minor modifications, in any year of ACVW that was made to take an upright engine.

ok thanks just making sure im not gonna have to change tranny ect.. to get it to bolt up. I dont want to go out and drop 2 grand on this engine to find out its to big or wont bolt up. Thats my biggest concern. Im pretty sure i understand what it takes to convery 6v to 12v ... any other problems i might have ?

Two biggest problems are:

Making sure the FW will fit the 1600 crankshaft, and with which FW gasket (paper or metal) to use.

Figuring where to mount the regulator since the earlier engine has it bolted to the generator.
