Hi All,

I've got an '84 Westy that I'd like to add 50/50 black sliders to. I like the all black look, and the idea of the larger opening.

I'm wondering if the window size changed at all through the years, or if it's one size fits all. Some ads in the classifieds say they fit . . . others say the size changed in 85.

Anybody know?

Anybody done this already?

Thanks.

The slider on the driver side is the same size througout the years. The slider on the sliding door changed in '85 to a smaller size.

That makes sense! Explains why some ads have certain windows fitting and other don't. Oh well, the only reason I was thinking about replacing them was because my slider on the passenger side no longer locks . . . the little notch the lock goes into is rounded off.

Thanks Pascal.

Sigeats - if the locking notches are the only issue, you don't need to replace the whole window.

That locking bar is only held in with silicone. With gentle but firm pressure along its length, it can be lifted out. Then replace it with one from perhaps a smashed window.

Just an idea.

Now that sounds like a plan! Thanks Spitsnrovers.

Anybody out there have a window locking bar for the passenger side they'd like to part with?

I'm changing my sliding door window out this weekend. The old one was smashed in (yet another) Vancouver break-in. I'll send you my old one in exchange for two fish tacos the next time I'm in SD. Wink You can PM me with your shipping details, I'll probably be able to get it in the mail sometime next week.

If you really want black frames, strip your window down, remove all the aluminum components, take them to an anodizing shop and ask them to strip them and anodize them black, it will look like later factory units.
