|
Just wondering what distributor do the 'experts' recommend, now that the Mexican-made DVDA is no longer being produced.
I have a DVDA distributor (0 231 167 070) from a '74 bug on my '74 Thing - I figured it should work?
BTW, I have a stock Solex 34-PICT 3 carb. _________________ Mike B.

It's been a long time since a quality new or reproduction DVDA distributor has been on the market. I think you probably meant SVDA. _________________ Roads Scholar &

You are correct. Antonio has them for sale here (back-ordered):

My engine had a SVDA Beetle dizzy on it and I had problems with the engine pinging under light load. I had originally built a system to limit the amount of vacuum advance, this stopped the pinging but was problematic. So I went looking for a vacuum can with less advance. Found a 889 (or is it 688) Thing vacuum can, but the mounting was wrong for my distributor's body, so looked some more and found a 951 can which fit correctly and has the same limited advance as the Thing can. |
