My vote is for the one on the left with the smaller holes and fewer fins. That's what was on both of my 25hp engines IIRC.

thanks for the input. they both have the same amount of fins.

well, after seeing the finishing of the VW38, seeing the KDF that was just found on a roof top, watching the transformation of eurodub's '52, and after i just got done re-re-re-reading "Truck" by John Jerome, i realized that it's been way too long since i even touched my '51, let alone making any significant progress on it. sure, i've been gathering parts and working on a few small items, but i haven't even sat in the actual car for a very long time. so today i took a short break, removed the tarp, and set about on some cleaning. if you will recall, there is nasty primer overspray on A LOT of the car, so today i made the effort to clean up the dash and steering wheel a little bit. (you can click on the images to make them larger)

felt good to get back to doing something on the '51.

there is some damage/sanding/bondo on the right corner, so i did not clean the primer off that area at this time:

well, not much new to report. with summer travels and other things going on in "reality", i just haven't really done much of anything on the '51.
through the samba classifieds i have found the few small 25hp engine tin pieces i was missing, and those have been powdercoated and are ready once the engine goes back together.
the case has been soda blasted and is nice and shiny and clean.
i've disassembled the starter in order to check, clean, and paint it, but right now it's just sitting in a box.
i've also gathered a few other parts i was missing (bumper upright, for example), but for the most part, this has become a back burner project.
i'm hoping that when winter rolls around i will have some time to do some more small parts restorations, but with another baby on the way, my time will be very limited, and i have other work that has to come before the '51.
