I only see 1-2 of them at big VW shows? |
Nobody can say there is no interest in Volksrods... Check out the screenshot. Thread is only 5 days old and it has 2314 views.
People are interested and they are looking for more! Come on EverettB, what needs to happen specifically for our dreams to become a reality? What will tilt the scale? |

Everett knows what's going on and is well aware... Just keep posting in your current and any future topics.....when and if the time is right on the Samba for a Volksrod forum then it may happen. _________________ aka Ken {o\!/o}

The earliest I know of is 1965 but it was in kit form with a bolt on hood and you removed the fenders (no extended beam and at its simplest form of evolution)
32 Duece style kit was originally manufactured by Sandwinder and then Burly Industries with pirated copies made by Speedway Motors
http://www.volksrods.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23473
Ken and others have mentioned the a true Volksrod is created, not made... except for extended beams and head bracing, you just can't bolt one together. Unlike restoring where you buy parts off the shelf and make it look factory, you actually have to BUILD a VOLKSROD. Where do you make the cuts? How for to extend the front end, chop and how much, roadster, pickup? The list is endless... and the craftsmanship that I have seen is just crazy!
I don't understand the disdain for Volksrods on here... Dune buggys shorten the pans and no one complains... Baja Bugs cut up so much, that's cool... but do something that the masses cannot, well... that's just wrong, how dare you... I think I will call this jealousy _________________ Don't harsh my mellow...

Well - some of the kit car folks get ragged on too. But you have to remember that some of the Volksrod issues date back to the "hoodride" stuff and some of their attitude was specifically to piss off purists. And a lot of the ratrod movement doesnt get a lot of respect because the cars look unfinished - even though the original hot rods of the 40s woulr be considered rat rods today.
I honestly think that a lot of VR haters picture most of us taking pristine 56 bugs, chopping the hell out of them with a chainsaw and pop rivetting them back together - then stand around and piss on them to create patina.
So I can see where the attitude can come from. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

That kind of thought process is so far from the truth. In my case the "NOT A 67" spun me out a bit. I thought of reversing course momentarily, then I looked up production numbers... over 900,000 made, that brought back to where I wanted to be.
My 67 had been tapped in the front, needed new qtr panels, hood alignment, had a rusty brazil front bumper etc... and being a mish-mash of one off parts justified to me to make it a one off creation _________________ Don't harsh my mellow...

Right with you - the $500 69 vert that became my woodie was hit in all 4 corners, had 1/2" of bondo in the right front quarter as well as a completely trashed pan. But the heater channels were good _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

Don't see how there can be any reasons for not having a Volksrod section. |

Really guys......... thats no way to be...
You can post here even without a Volksrod specific forum.. We want it...but we dont need it...
Its your choice what (and where) to and not to start a topic on .... Nobody's forcing you, so if you are not comfortable with fitting in, and maybe taking some heat.... then simply dont start a topic and move on somewhere else

Wouldn't post-poning/stopping the start of Volksrod threads eliminate the need for a Volksrod forum? |
