I'm having trouble finding a shelf that I saw on a friend's bus this past weekend that sits under the dash. I tried Bus Depot, Go Westy and some other places, but my search terms may not be right. Can anyone share where I might be able to find one? |

Sweet. Thanks for the tip.

This is going to eliminate the center console the PO installed on the floor, so we can walk from the front to back easier during camping trips. |

Since it came up... I was about to buy one of those parcel trays from BusDepot today (http://www.busdepot.com/details.jsp?partnumber=78990), but the notes said that it doesn't work with the "armrest air ducts" - which I have. I'm not sure if that applies to the bamboo or other varieties, but apparently the BusDepot one is a no go for me - watch out for that!

Ooh. I was looking at one of those in an online catalog but had no idea what it would look like installed. I like it. |

I saw someone's 74 bus with one in it and I wanted it immediately. I'd love to have that much space under to put stuff |

My bus is a 78. Anybody know if those bamboo ones work with the armrest ducts? Are they REALLY bamboo, or plastic look-alike. |

I'm not exactly getting what they mean by "not compatible." So if I also have vents on my door panels, that means I can't use this? What's different about buses with those door vents? |

Any idea why? |
Looks like the parcel tray would interfere with shutting your door if you have the arm rest ducts. In the picture posted above with the tray, you can see how the ends curve around right where that vent goes into the door. That's too bad for me, too. I was planning on getting one of these things, but my '77 has those arm rests. |

Yeah, that's why I posted that pic... so somebody doesn't waste their money on a tray if it won't work.... but I don't know for a fact that it won't work, I'm just going by the warning that appeared on the BusDepot website.
Hey, BusDepot... confirmed? Those ducts get in the way? |

keep putting their feet up on the original trays
& they are starting to bend
these look like they would solve that problem |

Thank you vw76westy. We are the guys that sell the parcel trays at the Pomona swap. Our trays will fit '68 to '79 bays. No issue with clearance for the door air vents. These are welded steel tubing, they will outlast your bus. Black vinyl style is the most popular seller:

I bought a passenger side shelf from regalasr. It fits and is well made.
IMHO it's a better part than the plastic one or the stock net thing. |

Never in my right mind would I pay $180 for a TRAY and cupholders.
That's just insane. |

do you make different left sides for the 74 and newer busses, where the fuse block is positioned lower?
i have some original parcel trays, and can only use the right side because of the fuse block interference. i think that is a reason that originals are sometimes advertised as fitting 68-73. _________________ thebucket: I invested in hoodride, now DBD won't return my call?

The way our trays are positioned there is no issue with the fuse block. We drop our trays lower than the bamboo or plastic type. Since ours is heavy guage welded steel, they do not deflect so they can be positioned lower. They are plenty strong enough for passengers to put their feet up on them.
As for the price, takes many hours hand bending of the tubing and welding, grinding, painting, and upholstery or wood work. They are for the discriminating owner that wants the best. Sorry, can't match the price of Chinese made. When we break down our return for hours worked, we would be better off with a part time job But we are in it because we got love for these bays |
