Hi all. This is Karl's daughter.
First, thank you for all his birthday wishes.
Second...I have bad news. He passed away tonight, peacefully, just after 6:30. He had started his 4th round of Chemo yesterday and the first dose put him in acute kidney failure. |

How sad. He has been one of the very greatest guys in the VW community. An outstanding and very admirable attitude was his desire that repairs and parts replacements were done the right way, the way they should be done. Really wonder just how many people he has helped out. Many, many. A sad loss.
Karl's daughter-
You had one great dad. Our prayers are with you. _________________ 71 Superbug

Wow...just wow. I didn't know Karl, but from what I gather he was a very well respected member of this forum. I'm sorry for your loss...

I'm terribly sorry to hear that. I did not get to interact with Karl much, but he was quick to answer one of my threads recently and for that I am truly grateful.
People have said how helpful and willing to source parts for them without thinking twice. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. May he rest in peace. |

He was always willing to help people out and wasn't afraid to be brutally honest. I'm sure we all remember many an argument because someone didn't want to here it
Apart from the forum i didn't know much about Karl, but from what I've seen he was a very good man. Karl's Daughter, my prayers will be with you.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go adjust my clutch and go for a drive in memory of him.

I'm glad I got the chance to spend some time with Karl a few times in Fresno. No doubt it is a great loss to his family first, and to the entire VW community second. Terrible news. Karl was always there with any part or help anyone needed. It was very sad to hear about his diagnosis happening to such a nice person. His memory lives on in all the VW's he helped keep alive. Thanks for the parts, help and wisdom Karl. _________________ '73 Transporter 1.7L Dual Carb

Karl was nothing short of genius. He helped me out a couple of times directly and many more times when helping others on this forum. |
