before i get bombarded w/ post like " only standards and deluxes have interior" please read the rest of the post and look at the pictures.
i found a 62 or 63 kombi this weekend and it has a full interior including a headliner. all the panels in the rear including the headliner are made of the same material as the all the front panels. this looks like a factory set up. ive never seen this before. sorry i didnt get a picture of the m-codes. has anyone seen this setup before? the only good picture i got was of the headliner.

as per mcode results
502 Board door panels Panel Van and Kombi
503 Board headliner Panel Van and Kombi
504 Board bulkhead paneling, non-walk-through models
might want to check the mcode tag and see if any of these numbers match |

A friend of mine and I have been co-conspiring on paneling a couple kombi interiors. I think it looks pretty nice, but I didn't realize that this was ever a factory option. Now it's even better! This one is not complete yet and still needs the trim in between the panels.

og complete interior panels in a kombi is an extremely rare option.
I have only seen one in person, and didn't take pics.
Please post up a pic of the M-code plate, and more pics of the interior!
Did they use 1" wide strips of the same board between the front cab panels and the rear roof panel?
nice find! _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

Are you sure the rear panels are made of the same stuff as the front ones?
Could you take a pic of where they meet?
I suspect the front has the pebble grain and the back are smooth. Like the cab roof of a SC and the roof and back interior of a DC are smooth.
And what is that at the back? A bunch of screws holding the roof panel to what?
Love the way you're pulling the swivel lovers chains.

here's the bus as it sits
the interior is full of junk but i could see the long wall and it had the short panel behind the cargo doors and it had the panels on the inside of the rear corners all the way to the last window. the panels in the cargo area are kinda beat due to all the junk inside and the weather. when i looked at it all the panels looked like stock material, i didnt get a good look of the finish weather they were smooth or not. im going back this weekend for another look. _________________ Missouri Micros |

they are very unusual
I have only seen 2 kombis with them in over 20+ years
both pearl white
there are pics of a 64 kombi (German delivery) in the eccles book
I had a 65 kombi Mcoded (US delivery) with full interior panel kit
I have a NOS set from a dealer
its the same material as dcab rear cab panels or roof panels
grey paint and with 2 wood strips about 12" and 18" +/- from floor _________________ hugheseum wrote:

i have a 66 kombi that has the 503 option; also pearl white. it had only panels on the ceiling. thanks for the pic showing the rear panel. i had no idea the rear panel did not extend all the way to the rear hatch opening.
i do believe what was left of the roof panels was smooth, unfortanly i did not save the pieces that were there.
here are a few pics of the roof pieces that were spoted on, there are a few more in my gallery.

I have a 64 Sun Roof Kombi That was ordered with all the seats, interior panels, walk through and 2 tone paint Tutq/Blue White unfortunately all the interior was gone when I got it .
My question is what color panels and seats does it take
Would the seats and panels be como green or grey?
Also does the Walk Through section take panels? |

with all those options the original owner should of just bought a standard off the lot. are you sure its not a standard. the headliner clips would give it away. if in fact it is a kombi and a 64 id think the seats would be gray. i know my 63 single cab had gray seats but my 67 kombi had salt and pepper. what year did they stop the solid gray seats on commercials? _________________ Missouri Micros |

Sounds like an interesting bus.
Can we see pics of the M-code plate, and of the bus?
Does it have the metal strips around the roof edges like the kombi w/interior panels pictured above?
M-code plate should say interior/ seat color. I'd think for a kombi it'd have kombi colored seats and smooth gray panels in the back, like the back DC panels, nothing on bulkhead _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

Here's the m-codes and a picture of the bus. Everett added the M-code numbers to the camper models with these colors . I'm bringing the bus back home on Sunday and can take pics of the M code plate. The bus is defiantly a Kombi it doesn't have the tack strips for the headliner and it has the channels for the cardboard headline over the cab. It also doesn't have the heater tube in the cargo area.

'65 was the start of the salt/pepper
'64 would be grey with white piping _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.
