Get a good set of protective gaurds for those headlights! Itd be a huge bummer if you got a rock chip a week into them! _________________ Stuart Zickefoose

No doubt. I was a little hesitant to take them out of the box even to clean them. But I have a set of those plastic bubbles that fit right over top of your headlights, found them brand new in an old bus stuffed with parts, so they will sacrifice their little plastic lives for these headlights. Will post pics when done! _________________ May of '72 Deluxe. 2.0L L-Jet CS & 091 trans conversion

Ok, I have to ask about your trip:
Did you see a white over orange bus driving opposite you on the 101 in Northern California?? I remember seeing a white over red bus on the opposite side of the highway when I was up there in late June last year...... _________________ Learn how your vintage VW works. And why it doesn't!

You know, the more i think about it, the more i think i did see your bus and comment, all excitedly to the miss, "that guys from the samba!". We did coastline it all the way down to san fransisco, every day, so its super likely we cruised by.
Cool! Too bad all us bus driver didnt have cb's so we could communicate on the fly! _________________ May of '72 Deluxe. 2.0L L-Jet CS & 091 trans conversion

Haha no way! I think I was going downhill, and my copilot actually pointed out how you were booking it up the hill...
I was going to or coming back from the Lost Coast Camaping Trip, I was the only one on the trip without a CB! _________________ Learn how your vintage VW works. And why it doesn't!

After 300 miles she went in for oil change from break-in oil to Joe Gibbs DT 50 high zinc aircooled oil and a thorough inspection of the fuel lines and lelectrical istallation.
it took me about 4 months on and off to get things ready for install, and im happy to say the only problem i had was my oil pressure sensor tee dripping oil. managed to snug that up and now she doesnt leave a drop anywhere.

to top things off i had this made from a guy in the UK who makes them. i've installed it but dont have any pictures of it on the bus yet. looks nice!

Hi there,
I know this is a pretty old post but I got to ask.
The PLX box.. is that for a wideband o2 sensor? What type of distributor are you running in that engine? it doesn't look like a stock distributor.
Thanks,
Heiko |

Yeah its old but im still around, just lost travelling earth for a year or two. Miss my bus, all tucked away awaiting my return.
Loads of buses here in Australia! Saw a few in thailand and Philippines too.
The plx box is for AFR readings, uses and O2 sensor in the exhaust pipe( i believe its o2 anyhow)
Distributor is a mallory unit., mechanical advance only. Came with the engine build _________________ May of '72 Deluxe. 2.0L L-Jet CS & 091 trans conversion
