I am interested in starting a VW trike project this winter but I never see any threads or builds on here for them. When I search for trikes I go to a site that has old postings on it....nothing newer than june 09. Just trying to find an "active" forum to discuss trike issues. Appreciate it if someone can tell me where to find them........Thanks!!!

You need to go to a trike site: http://btw-trikers.org/uploads/home.php
Trike coverage is a little sparse here.

Amen to that brother! I am sorry I got rid of the trike last year. But as you can see in my bylines, I got another one I am building.

Here is a nice example of a home built trike. The guy sells a CD which shows you to build a trike just like this one for about $49.00

Good looking site too with plenty of pics.

Trying to weigh the odds of going auto or manual.I guess if I went auto stick I need to find a place for all that goes along with automatics. What would be needed?? Not sure but I am asking because I can pick up an auto stick dirt cheap! On the other hand I can go manual and fab the location for a clutch pedal and shifter.Does anyone have pictures of pedal fabrication for manual trikes......it sure would help me make a decision. Thanks people!

I would recommend using a full auto out of a type3 or bus instead of the autostick. Just personnel preference. Clutch linkage is fairly easy to fabricate. I usually use a hydraulic master cylinder and slave cylinders for my clutch. JEasier yet. Here are a couple pics of 2 trikes I have about ready to hit the road. Jerry

I'll get some pics of my clutch linkage tomorrow. Here is a pic of an auto trike I built a couple of years ago. Jerry

I'll try posting pics tomorrow. I have hit my frustration level. Everytime I type the message and add pics and then submit I get sent to the log on page which I have logged in about a dozen times today. In the mean time you might visit the BTW website. There is a lot of information there.(http://btw-trikers.org.) Jerry

Just thought I would drop a line and tell everyone that I am finally making progress on my trike project.I have the vw rear and bike all welded together and the pedal assemblies together and working.I will be putting in the tranny and then moving on to modifying the tank and some side panels.I will be posting some pics soon so I can get some feed back from other builders. This is my first one with limited resources but all in all I am pleased with the outcome.Anyone have any pics on how they filled in under the seat with panels and how they located the battery? I would like to see some ! THANKS!!!

Just a bump update to say hi and to let any trike builders out their know if you have any build questions I will be checking this forum more often...believe it or not I just discovered this section I didn't even know existed...funny cuz I've been a user for a few months and never thought that Samba even had a section for VW trikes...BTW has a very elaborate website and a ton of info but personally think their site needs a modern touch...so before I go I will leave you all to enjoy my in progress Rat Trike that I started over 3 years ago and now sits in my back yard waiting for more money to fund the finishing touches.
