|
|
My first Beetle, a 1979 red vert with white top, was named "The Strawberry" by my kids. My current beetle (pictured) is just called "The Beetle", but ever since I bought it I've been thinking of a name for it.
The two names I'm considering (depending on whether it is a male or a female) are "Elizabeth" and "Doc". The original owner was "Doc" Sheppard, a radio personality and community stalwart in Valdosta, Georgia. His wife Elizabeth drove the car for years 1.5 miles each way to her job as a librarian.
For those of you who don't think this is incredibly stupid, tell me which name you think fits this car better. Thanks.

Nice one.
I personally like "Doc", but you could also call it "Libby" (for Elizabeth the Librarian").
My Pop calls his 1951 Mercury "The Gray Ghost"
I think car naming is an older tradition to try and keep going. _________________ aka Ken {o\!/o}

How 'bout "Doc Liza", Or Eliza PHD
Also Doc does not mean a dude... So the gender already is feminine.
Personally I think when your pleading with it to start and your 25 miles from home, its cold, dark, maybe raining - you will come up with her real name...

You could call it "My little green frog or something like that. A friend of mine many years ago had a yellow one and called it Yellow Frog. _________________ As they say, "You never know until you ask the question."

Paul Newman was "Doc" in the movie Cars. Paul Newman and Jo Ann Woodward drove Volkswagens in the 60's. So, Doc works nicely. |

But knowing you, Glenn, if you ever did name your car, I'm sure it would be a real hum-dinger of a name.
