Ha, I just got one of these for FREE !! It is hammered though. body been sitting in pine forest 20 years by itself, no pan so the tub sides have all caved in and assumed a new shape, the buggy was in a accident and is missing about 1/3 of front right fender and most of the nose !! It also has numerous chunks and holes to repair. It came wiith a fiberjet hood that looks like a 70 firebird that I am going to attempt to graft on to repair. About the only goof thing besides being free is it has a near perfect removable top and straight windshield that folds down partway!! |

I had one of these when I was a teenager...around '77 or so. Fun buggy. Didn't have the hard top though, only a soft top.
Price doesn't seem bad, especially seeing it has a T4 engine in it! Bet it's easy to pop a wheelie in that one!

The whole Patina thing has gone way too far. A beat up piece of shit does not have patina. It's a beat up piece of shit. That car is a good base for a restoration, Not a coat of wax. |

I have looked at this very buggy in person. From what I could see, it needed a lot of work to be street-legal, but wouldn't take an extraordinary amount of effort to make it usable as an off-road vehicle. There were no gauges, the seat looked like it came out of the back of a minivan and was probably put in there so that it could be driven without sitting on the floor, there were no headlights, and a diamond-texture steel floor had been put into the bed area.
I briefly entertained the idea of buying it and doing something of a 1960s show-rod treatment with it, but decided against it due to finances and the fact that I would have great difficulty in getting inside. I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants a dune buggy but isn't into the Manx or sandrail thing, and is on the smaller side so they can get in those little side windows without removing the top. |
