How about pics of shuttle busses? seems that alot of establishments used VW's for hauling customers, how about some pics?
Like this: (watch out for those low gas station roofs) BTW that's me swimming in the pool with the beach ball
Or lurking in the background here:
Or this:
This jewel:
And of course this:
There must be many more, I've seen them in postcards from those crazy looking Googie style motels from the 60's but never thought to save the pics.

There are a lot of them in the gallery if you search for "courtesy". |

Cool. Would the pic of the airport be Catalina's Airport in the sky by chance? I heard they had several buses over the years that they used to shuttle people from Avalon and the Isthsmus and back to the Airport. I just bought their last shuttle bus before they went to jeeps and other vehicles; it's a '67 Kombi. It was stored in the hanger at the airport its whole life, but being on an island in the Pacific Ocean, it's pretty rusty.
Edit: I didn't see the logo on the bus when I posted. It's not the Catalina Island Shuttle. If anyone has pics, let me know. _________________ Riding with Surf City had me thinking "F'n Piercy" was your real name.

I've got a different postcard of the Fantasy Motel bus (which includes a second one!). I'll scan and post that up. _________________ Read the story of Vern as it unfolds |

Cool, Thanks fish. My bus looks just like that (along with the tons of others that do too;) The history of my bus is illusive. I called a historian up at the airport and he obviously hates 'hippy busses', so I got nothing. But we definitely plucked it from the hanger on Catalina. Apparently they had a few over the years. _________________ Riding with Surf City had me thinking "F'n Piercy" was your real name. |

Does anyone know where the Kon Tiki Hotel busses are or what happened to them?
There was a split and a bay window.
Thanks for any help you can give!
