|
|
Wondering what gauge wire is recommended for grounding a gas tank on a fiberglass buggy. Should I use a braided grounding strap or a 10-12 gauge wire. Also using a 70's era speedometer with the gas gauge in it and need to know what terminal do you pick the power up from?....any pics on that diagram would be very helpful. Thanks for the help! |

The whole idea of grounding tank is so electric gauge will work and keep static electricity down..... IF you look at wire to electric gauge from sender the grounding wire need not be any bigger that sender wire... As for static electricity its about voltage not current and if it is grounded no matter how small the wire any buildup is prevented ...
16 gauge is probably just fine but if in doubt always go bigger (14 gauge)....

Definetely ground the tank against static discharge. I go at least 12 guage. 10 would not hurt either. _________________ Street legal fiberglass rocket ship

Why not just use 00 welding cable to be sure. Just kidding. All you need is the original ground wire from your sending unit. This grounds the sender body which is grounded to the tank by the sender screws or the locking cams on a twist and turn sender. _________________ Licensed Automotive Service Technician
