|
|
I have a donor 71 that i'm trying to get the radio out of. I’m having trouble locating the mounting screws for it. I’ve got the support bracket that runs from the back down to the ebrake area but can’t find the others.
I see a few screws that are spaced along the top, but I’m not sure if these are to remove the top of the radio itself or are part of the mounting system.
There’s not much space up there to look around, I haven’t been able to find anything in Bently and I did a search here and didn’t come up with much.
Thanks in advance for any advice |

There are no screws to hold it in place, except the one on the bracket you mentioned. There are spring tabs on the side of the radio that lock it in the dash. Take out the glovebox, look at the side of the radio and you'll see what I'm talking about. Push the spring clip in on both sides, pull the radio out. _________________ First Trip in the RustyBus:

If it is a original radio it might also have a wire that connects to the headlight switch-dimmer so that the radio can be dimmed along with the dash pod lamps. |

Finally got it out of there! Took me FOREVER. Those two clips were no joke. Ended up taking those little screws out from the side and taking the clips out before hand. Thanks for the advice!

I would just like to add a little tidbit, since I was having difficulty removing my Saffire unit out of my 68 bus.
I finally realized I had to remove the knobs on the radio itself to gain access to the locking nuts. These basically pinch the radio and its carrier in between the radio and the dash. Once I removed the knobs, removed the nuts, the radio basically fell out. Mind you, I had removed and disconnected all of my wiring prior. For what it's worth,
