I have a set of Bilstein heavy duty shocks (both front and back sets) that I removed from my 1984 vanagon back in 2002. At the time, they only had 27K miles on them. They have been sitting in my basement for 7 years.

Any way of telling if they are still okay short of installing them? I would like to install both sets on my 1990 vanagon; it uses the same shocks.

thanks

I can not think of any reason they they could have gone bad maybe if they were still on the van but not on the shelf.

Visual inspection can tell a lot (although not everything).

I would guess they are good to go on the bus !

Put them back in service.
