|
|
I have the CB Perfromance Brazilian fan shroud: http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=1523
The issue I have is the oil cooler adapter hits the shroud when installed and a gap of ½” is visible on the right side when the left side of shroud is bolted down. The opposite is true when the left of side of shroud is bolted down. Do I need to change the oil cooler adapter to a different one? If so, which one?
I called CB Performance and they want me to take pictures and send them to them. I will do that this afternoon…just want to know if anyone here has had this issue as well.
Thanks in advance

Are you using a German oil cooler and adapter? Some pictures may help as well. _________________ 1965 Beetle sedan

In picture 3, the two holes are for the stock spark plug wire retainers. _________________ 1966 Karmann-Ghia convertible |

those holes i believe are for the plug wire holders(im not sure what they're called, but they hold the plug wires up off the engine) |

Ditto...those holes are for the spark plug wire "clips"...just find some OEM wire clips. _________________ Neil.

how thick are your plug wires? They will probably get chewed up by stock holders |

They are 8.5mm.
I do not plan to use the stock wire holder in this application. |

Even if you are not going to use them I would still put the plug holders in the shroud so the air does not escape through those open holes. |

Those open holes and the other ones. Now, the is one that has a oval shape...it might be a challenge to cover that one. We will see. |

Mine fit pretty good right off the bat.
I did some clean up on the brackets and holes before I powder coated it.
These were taken while we did the break in on the chassis a couple years ago.

Use the early style rubber ignition wire holders.
I have the same shroud. It's an older style without all the extra holes and brackets welded to it.
I use a German oil cooler with no problems. _________________ 1957 Vintage Baja Bug.

about pic 1 - I've fit several PUMA shrouds and never seen that problem, not sure what to say about that, but it appears you have solved it with some selective hammer hits
about pic 6 - those openings are for the hot air from the oil cooler to exit the engine compartment. Do NOT seal those off. When you use the PUMA shroud, it has the round outlet, use the matching firewall with the round opening. there is a sealing "donut" to mate the 2 up. _________________ Volkaholic |
