First of all, this is on a 69 Ghia, IRS rear.
I plan on switching the drums and rotors to new ones with 5x130 lug pattern.

My questions are:

1. Does the rear axel nut interfear with the Fuch center cap? Does it need to be shaved down a bit to fit flush? Seems I heard that somewhere, anyone know if it's true?

2. What lug bolts are prefered? Just get the Flat 4 chrome ones? Will these work: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=634192

I know a lot of people use studs but i'd like to stick to lug bolts, unless there's a good reason not to.

Any input or shared experiences would be great, thanks! Very Happy

I've got OG Fuchs on my 69 and had to shave down a bit to fit the cap... not sure about Flat 4's though..

You should get longer ones since the wheel will be thicker than the original one and stock lug bolts will look like poop with a nice wheel.

Anyone? Come on!

You can't click your mouse on this sight without seeing some Fuchs, genuine or otherwise! So I know some of you fools gots to know!

What lug bolts are prefered?

I know studs are stronger but are they necessary for a street car with a stock engine?

Thank you for your support! Wink

There are 2 ways to fix this.

You could put a thin spacer on. 5mm should do it. This creates another problem. It appears that your wheel and tire already stick out from the fender. A spacer makes this worse.

The second way is to cut down the end of the axle a little bit. You might have to shorten the nut 1-2 mm too.

tks for answer, so i bought a pair of 1/4'' spacer on ebay, but didn't arrive yet. I bought it for my idea, but thinkin, the better way is cutting.

Tks a lot

Alex
