This was my first car back in 1988-89. It was a 72 super beetle autostick I was 15-16 yrs old. Just found these pics in a photo album the other day (thats an actual book with paper pictures in it for the younger crowd). I knew nothing about vw’s or cars for that matter and it had its share of problems. Lets just say I will never own another auto not because I couldn’t maintain one now but there are just way too many bad memories. Sold the car a year later for $500 with the engine sitting beside it. I get nauseous when I think about it now. I had a subscription to hot vw’s, big dreams, shallow pockets and no experience or resources. Making up for it now!

That’s me about 1982 and I had a 66 DC a 56 bug and a 73 bus. I was making pretty good living working oil industry offshore Gulf of Mexico. VW parts were cheap back then. You could build engine using all new German parts including case and heads less than 1000 bucks. |

^^ that's a wizard roadster. is it a full grp bodied one crossed up?
as for air supply, the all grp ones had a shaped firewall that let air come up over the gearbox. the cut down metal/kit ones usually had large holes cut in the inner arches.
