some ex-stinkfoot is probably using it as a chicken coop/storage unit and is too whacked out to realize the fact that it is the former "Woodstock" bus Laughing

that's the light bus. used by a band called Light to carry their gear. Made famous as a woodstock icon somewhat by accident.

I just stumbled across this ad below and got to thinking have we ever found out what happened to the bus? I read the male musician siting on the bus in the photo died at 49.

This is the last I have found:
"So, what happened to the original bus?
“The original bus, unfortunately, was last
seen partially being held together by the
paint job,” says Hieronimus. “Its eventual
demise is a bit of mystery to us in this day
and age. It wasn’t my bus, after all. I painted
it on commission for Bob Grimm, who
after Light broke up, headed to England to
tour with the Four Seasons ... today neither
one of us can remember what eventually
happened to the bus in the end. It’s sad, but
I’m afraid it’s long gone.”"

It would be really cool if someone finds it even if rotting in a field. My 67's Maiden Voyage will be Upstate NY Bethel, & Woodstock we'll let the locals know we are looking for her whereabouts Cool

I really would like the stamps, although the bus is cute too Cool

That is crazy talk, I think it would go for more then a plane jane bus but not crazy money. It has no real "bus" value such as a BD 23 window or something and I doubt the samba would be the place it would fetch the big coin. I am thinking your generic big name auto auction would bring any serious money as it is purely the cheese factor that would make this worth anything above average...kinda like Ted Bundy's beetle.

A plain jane four door Ford Galaxie "police car" that was in a Andy Griffith show and had been signed by Don Knotts sold at Barrett jackson for $110,000. That was ridiculous, but some people have more money than they deserve.

I would expect that bus would sell for at least that much and probably a lot more, if it was ever found. Woodstock was a cultural watershed, not to mention probably the greatest musical event ever held. Fading from memory now, future generations will discover it once again and esconce it to the lofty level it deserves, says this old incognito hippy.

I wonder how many people out there have just started converting their Bus to make a knock off of it to try and pass it off as the real one..... Rolling Eyes

I could see the police car from the Andy G show bringing big coin, after all it was one of if not the first mega hit TV shows out there. The show was centered around a police station, so think about it the cop car from the Andy G show. It was one car on the top show.

How many buses-cars were at Woodstock? Hundreds of thousands?
Yes I do think the bus would bring good money because of that one photo it was in but big really big deal...it was just in a picture.
I could see some burned out hippies going " Ohh man that thing would bring a Million dollars man..." ok ok smokey... Put down the pipe and back slowly away from the computer... Laughing

I have a useless comment, but since this thread is useless, here goes:

Wasn't Woodstock in '69? If so, that bus in the picture must have been relatively new, i.e. expensive for the time. I bet those "hippies" are just "yuppie" posers. Laughing No stinkfoot could afford a newer (at the time) bus.

Same thing for any other buses there: unless it was an early 50s model (doubtful) then most were relatively newer vehicles, right?

See, told you it was useless.

If the bus were still around, I'd assume that photo with the roof-mounted stinkfoots would actually de-value the bus.
