Here is one more way. T off the oil sending unit and put a pressure switch in there. There should be enough fuel in the float bowl to start the vehicle so you shouldn't have any extra cranking time. the good thing is when the engine dies for some reason it will shut the fuel pump off. The fuel pump should be run off of a relay. when you wire the fuel pump you should be coming from the battery to the relay to the fuel pump. There should be a wire from the ignition switch to the pressure switch and then to the fuel pump relay.

Ok, that sounds like a good plan except i have a type 3 engine converted to a type 1 which means the oil pressure switch sticks out right next to the crank pulley. But I havent looked at it with that plan in mind yet, so it might work.

well i got lazy and anxious (it started raining just as i was starting to put the pump in. so i wanted to go play in the mud) and just put a switch in that gets its power from the ignition.

Now im trying to get a 1 piece front end i found for $200. It also comes with two rear fenders and two spare front fenders(though i dont know what i would need two front fenders for). the guy also has a roll cage for $200 more and some seats for $150. i want them all but can only afford the fiberglass.

So im curious on how to cut up my baja to fit this one piece fron end on. Does any one have an idea and some pics you could share?

Don't forget to check the fuel pressure that your carbs like to run at. You might need a regulator.

I just got back from picking up my new parts. I got the one piece front with the tilt bumper, front and rear fenders, nerf bars, a rear bumper and a 6 point roll cage for $300. Score!!! Very Happy

Tomorrow i think i will put the new roll cage in. Im really excited to do this.

^ Yeah it seems like i too go around saying that at a few people that get really good deals. It'll come to you man, you just got to search. And not to rub it in i also got two rear side windows and a rear windshield out of a 69'. They're tinted and for sale if any one wants them. I also want to sell the extra rear bumper and the front fenders. the fenders are for a bug eye kit. Im also going to sell my current baja kit. Its a rare one so if any one wants it, or any thing else i mentioned, let me know.

But for now i just got done putting in the roll cage. I wasnt going to do it tonight, but i got the center hoop in and the rear arms so i figured "what the heck!" and did it. I had a hard time getting the stock seats back in because the front hoop was in the way. It also makes it a pain in the ass to get out, I almost faced planted the first time. I can see this being a problem after a few beers, i probably wont care by then. I ended up just cutting off part of the seat track on the seat and it slid right in. I really want to start adding to the cage to make it better and stronger, as well as extend it to the front beam and back to the frame horns, but im planning on swapping to an IRS pan some time soon so i would just have to cut it apart. i do see a few parts i can tie together here and there though.

Tomorrow i plan on cutting the front off so i can fit my one piece on there. Very Happy

Ok here's some pics

The rear. I plan on putting in one cross bar under the window. I dont know what im going to do with the bumper supports (the green tubing). Tell me what you think (keep in mind i plan on swapping to IRS soon, though i dont know when). Cut them apart and tie them into the cage, then connect the cage into the rear bumper? Just leave it be? Or take some tubing and just connect them the way they are?

This morning i got to putting my new one piece front on. Heres some pics

old front fenders removed. I kind of like this look. i was tempted to take it out for a lap around the block, but i decided not to get distracted.

Hood and nose removed.

Starting to make the cut to get the body metal off

This brand new cut off wheel came apart and one piece hit me in the chin. It didnt hurt as much as i would think a disk spinning at 3000RPM would.

Front body removed. Im excited to be able to see all the suspension components.

Im wondering what to do with this lip. Should i grind it back further or should i just beat it back with a hammer?

Ohh yeah i got another one piece front end. Its for sale for a cheap $20. easy come easy go.

And the (almost) completed new front. I just need to secure the back side with some hood pins and mount the bumper a little better. Right now its just tach welded on the mounts that the C clamps are on.

can you take pics of the rear mounts for the onepiece front? did you use dzus fastners? a close up with the nose on and off whould help alot
