I have the springs a new set of bilstein shocks and the ball joint spacers going in. Anything else I should have them do up front while they are in there?

I'm in the process of tearing down and reassembling my entire front suspension. 2WD.
California van '89 saw some mountain roads during ski season. Overall rust moderate. Otherwise in very good shape.

The rubber bushings have shown to be in surprsingly good shape.. Even at 20 yrs and 170k miles.. but am replacing them all anyway, since its being entirely torn down.

The steel sleeve bushings on the radius control arm and the sway bar link (lower bushing) are both badly corroded. These should be looked at.

If you are doing extensive work up front, it might be worth taking a closer look into both areas and if not replacing now, plan on it in a yr or two.

The sway bar link steel bushings are still available. The radius control arm steel bushings are currently not. But Van Cafe is looking to have them manufactued locally. Samba member Tschroeder made his own out of stock pipe. He stated his were corroded to "dust".

Also, if you are runnning out of room for getting a decent alignment, I am told that the upper control arm bushings and adjustment washers may need replacing. Bentley has diagrams for identifying wear on the control arm bushings.

$0.02.

(This project started out as "just replacing the upper ball joints".. hahaha.. Now it includes Audis brakes, 16" wheels, VanCafe modest lift springs and all new front end rubber)

Go Westy has the radius arm steel bushings. You just have to call and ask them. I got some about a month ago.
