Coming soon. I have the mounts made for the driver's side, now that the hard work is done coming up with the plans and materials, its time to copy them for the passenger side and weld them in. Then I'll take some pic's and post them. Gotta figure out the wiring too, as there are half a dozen plugs underneath, and side airbags built into them. Don't want to wire up a heater switch to the wrong plug!!

I am currently in the process of fabricating 914 seats to ghia bases for my car. I like the porsche roadster feel of the seats and they take up much less space in the car (its small enough as is). |

Is there anyway you could post some more pics of the seat? Specifically a head on shot of the front (both upper and lower)? |
here you go...

Thank you! The new pics really highlight the extra support on the sides which help add to sexy curviness of the seats.
These seats apparently came in many different Porsches (well the non sport seat models did), so I should be able to find a pair but I'll have to have them refitted with more support.
Edit:
Also when looking for these seats should I be looking for ones that include the rails or is that something that's easy to find? _________________ 77 westy 2.0 FI

I also put in 911 seats(powered) and the support is great. I didn't want to remove the original sliders so I had to fab an adapter bracket. _________________ "Sometimes people forget they signed up to a HELP & SHARE Forum not a pissing contest"

Those don't look like the same seats BUT they still look great! Thanks for the pics!
Btw, how much did you pay for them if you don't mind me asking? _________________ 77 westy 2.0 FI

911 seats come in different styles and sizes (& powered or not). depending on model, year etc. I looked at other year seats and they were too tall for the Ghia. You have to make sure they will fit before making the purchase. Remember to factor in the adapters if you decide to keep the original Ghia brackets. I got lucky and got them from a dismantler of 911s who ships parts to Europe.
Being Porsche seats I can say they're really nice and comfortable. _________________ "Sometimes people forget they signed up to a HELP & SHARE Forum not a pissing contest"

Are there different sizes (in terms of height) for the two Porsche seats posted? Or if I stick with this particular style will I be ok?
My ghia will be custom so I have no issues with getting rid of the stock rails if that is the best way to go. _________________ 77 westy 2.0 FI

I think 911 seats are basically the same style, they just differ in height, material and features. Before I got these, I previously got a set that came from a '78 Targa and they're the same style. Bottom line is you have to measure first to be sure. _________________ "Sometimes people forget they signed up to a HELP & SHARE Forum not a pissing contest"

Just recently mounted Procar Drifter seats onto my 70 IRS floor pan. Seats are non-reclinable but have tilt adjustment and sliders. Used Scat seat brackets. My father and I had to do a lot of modifications to the brackets, sliders, etc to make sure seats would not hit the door windows or the ceiling.
Side note... Is the shifter normally to lean to the right? Or is that just what comes with EMPI shifters....

After long time looking for BMW convertible seats (because integrated safety belts) and not found ones on the right price I've decided to use my all time favorite seats. Got these seats few weeks ago really cheap ($12 both). I have exactly the same seats in two my other cars (modern Fords) and I must say they are way more comfortable than Recaros or other high quality seats I've used before.
Best thing - they can be sourced in two sizes, because they are used in different size cars -Euro Fiestas and Escorts. I got both of them cars and I fit in Fiesta's seat like in glove (I'm 176 cm., 65 kg.), while the Escort's ones are more roomy.
They will be rebuild and reupholstered and one day will be fitted in my '69 Coupe. _________________ The glory never gets old, just need new paint.

Actually they are very comfortable -- -- took me a few tries to get the 'lean back' of the seat at the right angle, but when I hit that right angle it was good -- wish I could of got the seat further back (I'm 6'4") but I had to consider wearing a helmet and bouncing it off the roll cage
Kirkey makes some very nice covers for the seats and are very worth the $$$$$ and really makes the seats very livable ---
However, after reading this thread the BMW seats look interesting, and I found some on Craigs about 30 minutes from the house for $100 -- gonna go look at them tomorrow am and see if I might change things out for some more ass padding LOL |

I have a set of Recaros that came out of a 05 Jetta GLI, and I have been trying to figure out how to get these to work in my car. As far as I know, they should be the same mounting as most Jettas of this year range. Has any one done this to their KG? Front looks like a solid center mount and rear has wheels that run in a track. My car is a 1972 KG. Any info is good info!!
Thanks |

I installed the same seats on my Bug which I adapted to fit the original seat rails. I cut off the mounts of the Recaros and welded them to the base of a spare set of original seats which I also cut off. I wanted to keep the original rails so I have the option of going back to the original seats. KG seats have the same set up as Bug seats although obviously with different dimensions. _________________ "Sometimes people forget they signed up to a HELP & SHARE Forum not a pissing contest"

DAMN -- -- I just noticed you got screwed like I did on a new front windshield -- about 1/2"-3/4" to short/narrow ----- if it wasn't for the windshield supports mine would of fallen into the car -- I'm gonna pull mine back out tomorrow and take it back for the correct size |
