I am trying to help my buddy out here on his missing vacuum lines on his new 71 westy. 009 in there now. I think he has the correct air cleaner. I saw no altitude compensator.
I have the DVDA carb lines figured out and the brake booster off the intake manifold all figured out.
Where does the small vacuum port on the 3/4 intake runner plug into?
I tried to search for it, but nothing really came up.
Thanks! |

Hey Randy,
I had a 1971 bus for many years running a 009. That 1/4 inch tube sticking out of the 3&4 cylinder intake end piece was always plugged off. I'm not sure but I think it ran to an altitude compensator which I had shit canned years ago.

^^^^Ditto^^^^ (the first pic and description)
With a 009 the only vac line on the engine is the booster on a '71. With a vac distributer it's just the vac connection/connections? at the carb. The port on the LH manifold is blocked on both my engines. And I havn't recognized any need for the altitude compensator unless the daily drive is from Death Valley to Mount Whitney. The oil bath connects to the vapor canister and the canister also connects to the port on the shroud RH side. But that's not vac.
