where should the backup light fuse(S13) and rear defrost fuse(S12) be located on a 1973 superbeetle?

The backup light fuse is clipped to a bracket next to the coil on the fan housing.
It gets power from terminal 15 of the coil.
The rear defroster fuse is under the back seat, near the relay. It gets its power from terminal 30, so be careful if the battery is connected.

Thanks, confusing as HELL. Why don't the these two items take power from the fuse box? Where did you get those pictures?

I believe that the image posted by mondshine is from a 1971 Beetle.

Fuse "A" is for the back-up lights.

Fuse "B" is for the control valve on the Auto Stick.

Fuse "C" is for the rear window defogger.

Same locations as described by mondshine, just a slightly different picture in the 1973 manual.
