Can someone tell me how to make a horn relay from scratch please.
Including all the dif awg wires.
Pictures would be cool too.

I’m powering my radiator fan from a fuse box, for all the other wiring involved in the fan speed, then the fuse box attaches to the battery with 8wgwire. Can I tap into the fuse box that I’m using for the radiator to power the horn?

Please help!Smile super duper appreciative if you can.

errr... you want the horn going off when the radiator kicks in...? Very Happy

how much time do you have on your hands to make a relay from scratch?

By design, you should have +12 volts at the horn whenever the key is on.

Do You have 12v there?

Also by design, when you push the horn button you are making a ground path for the 12 volts already at the horn.

Sadly, this ground path is often weak due to the design of the path traveled.

Do you have a good ground at the horn when the button is pushed?

If you answered "Yes" to having 12 v but "No" to having a good ground, this is probably why your horn doesn't work.

Test it, take a piece of wire and with the key on, touch the wire to a good ground (spare tire clamshell bolt?) and the ground terminal on the horn, brown wire I believe.
Does the horn honk?
Yes? You need a good ground.
No? You need to check your horn to see if it actually works.

Good news!
You can easily wire in a relay to work the horn using the stock wiring and horn button!

A good ground isn't needed to operate a low draw relay while a good ground is required to honk a horn!

Ideas to wire in a relay......

I went super simple and added the relay at the horn using the stock +12v and ground wires.

Google "horn relay wiring" and you will be shown lots of schematics on how to do it. You can buy a horn relay for most any rig from your FLAPS or use a single pole double throw relay.
