Are there any good (or decent) quality kits available anywhere? _________________ '76 Deluxe Campmobile |

I trust you have been here?

I have not found any good ones but have not looked very hard either.
But I will be looking soon as I go to install this Berg shifter. Let us know what you find. |

Yes, I read that on Richard's site. I was in contact with Scott (German Supply), and he doesnt sell the kits because he hadnt found any that are worth selling, as far as quality goes.
I was hoping someone had used one of the versions Richard lists, and has found some luck with it! _________________ '76 Deluxe Campmobile |

we used the old metal frame and the new sides. You can also have the nose on the new ones tigged to the cage so they don't run the risk of spinning. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

Seeming how it appears that one of my bushings fell out and is time for a replacement and this thread is two years old, can anyone make any recommendations on recent purchases they have made for the coupling? Do we have any solid leads on good replacements?
The latter two listed on this page appear to be a better quality than most I have seen:

I did what SGKent suggests, used new bushings and hardware with the original cage... as long as your old cage is viable, that's your best bet... I went with urethane 'cause I don't know if I trust aftermarket rubber (too soft)... _________________ you can find me under a Dub...

The bottom two do look to be stouter. You might just make a phone call and see what the vendor thinks. |

We're talking CIP here, that would be like calling GEX and asking if thier engines were any good , but you never know, it's worth a try. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

GEX? What's wrong with GEX engines?
haha: J/K. I have a high enough post count to know. _________________ My Bus Restoration Blog

Yea, sure, just call CIP or MAMW for good advice
Not all cages and inserts are the same size and interchangable. If you buy some complete coupler to just use the inserts out of it to put in another cage you might end up surprised.
Do not buy an EMPI coupler. Anyone want to buy an unused one real cheap?
CB Performance has a HD Rino coupler that is pretty awesome. It's the only one I know of that has a regular bolt and lock nut instead of the lag bolt and hollow tube that frequently cause problems. Inserts and cage look bullet proof. _________________ 71 Superbug

That there is some good info. I have a spare used OE coupler but kind of need to do a replacement anyway and would like new. All my gears overlap horizontally by something like 6". The recent-ish gear oil contamination of the coupler doesn't help, so I need some new bushings. _________________ Vehicle: 1975 Special order delivery walkthrough panel based pop-top camper (LCA / Sunliner). I just installed the ACC-C10-3595-HD from cip1 and Im very happy with the quality and feel. It doesn't have the lag screw just simply a nut and bolt. |

CB has the brake line I need too. Yay!
I'm going to try out their heavy duty one. It still costs a pittance so why not.
Looking at their site I feel like a kid in a sweet shop. Everything is so cheap. _________________ Vehicle: 1975 Special order delivery walkthrough panel based pop-top camper (LCA / Sunliner). Motor: Nippon 1.8L Single port Wasserboxer, Transmission: 3 rib 002. |

It's relative I guess. From various car forums ...fora? whatever I have deduced that in Australia we pay between 5x and 20x what the U.S. does on a lot of parts. 10x seems to be the rule of thumb. It is why I get excited when I find someone in the U.S. that ships internationally.
like I said I will definitely be trying that HD coupler. Now if someone can direct me to a place that has a matching keyed set of bay door handles... _________________ Vehicle: 1975 Special order delivery walkthrough panel based pop-top camper (LCA / Sunliner).
