|
|
| Just picked up California Clipper Body from a fellow member and I M in the parts gathering stage. I will be going for the Drag stance and will be building a Round tube frame. Rear will be setup with swing axle and coil overs. I am even considering a arm front suspension or a strut style. If any one has a pic or 2 for ideas advice or inspiration I sure would like to see them. |

I know it's not exactly what you asked for, but the Berrien chassis for fiberglass buggies is a nice, simple chassis. The perimeter is square tube, and has holes drilled for mounting the body (making it easy). A roll cage could easily be added to this making it a great drag chassis.

Scott Sain (username is scottsain) built a drag buggy using the Nostalgia body/Berrien square tube chassis, and he lives in South Carolina. He is also the host of VW Drag Night (http://vwdragnight.com/) He may be able to help steer you in the right direction. _________________ Gary David Holbrook

| Yes that is one nice ride. I belongs to a fellow member and my boss from a previous employer. I bought my body from him and was at his shop last weekend. He said it will be featured in a upcoming issue of Hot VWs. Pictures do not do it justice. It is a work of art. He just had his other buggy featured in the May 2012 issue of Hot VWs, it too is a work of art. |

Mine sat low. It was a pan, but I raised the frame head in the front and trans in the rear.

I will say that is one of the top 10 all time builds I have looked at. That includes all models not just VW's.
You are correct, pictures cannot capture the build quality. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

You don't steer with 2276cc 's hanging off the rear 295/50's Futura's on 8.5 centerlines.
And the fence story... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=259264&highlight=fence _________________ 62 vert
