|
|
I switched from Redline to a thick Swepco trans. oil last summer. In the last month or two I've noticed that the breather pipe that comes off the tranny was oily. The transmission oil had been pushed up and out of the breather. I blew into the open end of the breather pipe, it didn't seem plugged.
I also noticed last week some oil seepage and drip at the tranny/engine connection point. So I thought I had too much oil in there, so I leveled the van and sure enough a few ounces of oil slooowly dribbled out of the fill opening overnight.
So today there appears to be even more tranny oil dripping down between the engine and trans.
Would being over filled just a tad cause me to blow that shaft seal on the transmission? What else could cause high transmission oil pressure?
The transmission was rebuilt (3) years ago.
Thanks for any ideas.

This is a syncro, so I thought there was no breather to unclog? As in, the breather hose replaces the breather hole so it doesn't flood on syncro river crossings. It's the breather hose on my van that's pushing out the oil. Please correct me if there's another breather I need to look for. Joel _________________ Joel Lane

There are 3 breather hoses the trans the front diff and the flywheel they all terminate under the fuel tank. I made a manifold for mine with a filter so they could not get clogged.
