Yeah, maybe I'll go back there later and tell him it was just an intake leak and ask him where to score some mushrooms or some weed...

Eric and I agree on something!
Well today it was time to do that axle that I didn't do in Coos Bay...(as it was raining every day) So just for you China fans , I have to post. Keep in mind this is my 3rd half shaft, in 5 years, and they did ask a few questions...I explained they used inferior boots!
Always begin you job in a Motel6 parking lot...
The CV Joint was fine but the boot was not...
Moses and I walked down to Checkers, as it was only a mile each way, to exchange the axle...that was the most time consuming part of the job...(sorry no Moses pics here)
Back in, in about 20 minutes, after playing in the grease.
Total tools required; one...Total cost; zero...(well, $2.69 for the agent orange)
Now we have to go down to the lake for a schwim... |

A few months ago when I was debating whether to service my own CVs or buy at Checker, Checker didn't have the CVs in stock at any of the stores in my town. I ended up doing my own, but that's great that you were able to get one right away and not have to wait. Maybe the service changed when it became O'reilleys( SP?) _________________ Bone stock 1970 non-walkthrough "Station Wagon" bus

I have found that whether it Checkers, O'Riellys, Kragen, or Schucks...if they don't have one they can have it in a day or so. Coos Bay probably has them for the sandrail boys, and I was kind of happy they had one here in Lake Havasu.
I understand the argument that Lobros are better, but when traveling a lot it's nice to just swap one out...no tools, no mess, and no work bench required...I would have done it in their parking lot if Checkers were farther away. |

Now that Bessie is all better, we hit the Bridge and the Island...Moses visits the London Bridge.
It's really nice to be here in the "off season" no people and only 80 degrees!
Moses finds a GF at the dog park...he always let her get the toy...
Well, she was a faster schwimmer...
Moses doing what Moses's do best! (that little thing was like a schwimmin' coach...yap, yap, yap on the beach)
Lake Havasu has really grown since the 70/80's...but the radio stations are still pumping the Van Halen, AC/DC, U2, etc...it was like an acid flashback at Crazy Horse, I can remember camping under this paved road...there used to be no riff raft and we camped right on the water. Now it's $35 bucks a night for a freakin' "developed" spot.
And out to the lighthouse...(Moses is a camera slut)
ETA a pic of Moses catching the sunset from our Motel6 balcony...

If you find a working link to the Lake Havasu web cam please PM it to me. Havn't gotten it to work in quite a while. But no big hurry. There's not much skin around there this time of year.
So did we do a better job of putting the bridge together than when it was done in England? _________________ 71 Superbug

That may be a good thing...when I dropped into Wally's, it appeared that all the customers were "greeters"... I felt young!

Who is this "we" you speak of? McCulloch paid over $2,400,000 for what he thought was the "Tower Bridge" in 1968.....however, denied. Yet it was put up here with concrete, and stone cladding from England, so yes it is "better". But it's just a facsimile of the old Thames river crossing...yet it is AZ's #2 tourist draw next to that big hole in the desert!
Did you have a hand in the install? |

The AZ London Bridge is actually hollow with water lines, electric and telephone cables running through it. I've been inside it many times and it reminds me of a NYC subway station. You can walk from one end to the other internally.
The bridge is in three sections that are not attached to each other. The two ends are not connected to the middle span so that the bridge(s) can contract and expand do to temp changes. On the driving/walking surface there are steel plates covering the joints.
Just in case someone needed to know this.

This is the first thread that I've ever read end to end. Very interesting and very exciting. Your wing man makes the whole thread. Mine doesn't travel well. Good luck on your travels.
