Some updated pic of the progress so far. Took the rear end apart to paint and grease everything. Had no problems. took the stub axle out and bearings cleaned up everything. New Polyurethane bushings in the pivot arms. I only got the passenger side pretty much buttoned up. Still need to hook up the brake cylinder and put the shoes back on. here are the pics

Well after countless months, days and hours of thinking about it, I am electing to take the body off the pan to take it to the painter. If I knew I was going to do this when I started the project, it would have made things easier on myself, none the less, it is what it is. Here are a few pics of the body dolly I made out of 2x4's got done with it yesterday.
Today took all the bolts out holding the body on.
I will take some pics when I get the body on it _________________ 69 bug restoration thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=387230&highlight= |

When you took the A arms off did you need to do anything with the torsions? or just unblot the plates ? |

I removed the outer cv joint first then unbolted from the spring. If you are taking it completly out. You will have to unhook the ebrake cable at the ebrake handle and push down on the arm. Then take out the 17mm pivot bolt. You only need to remove the torsion spring if you decide to lower it,which I did. PM me if you need more info. Its not difficult. _________________ 69 bug restoration thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=387230&highlight= |

A little update. took the cooling tins off the engine for powder coating, getting done in satin black. Going to have to clean the engine up some, might have a push rod tube leaking we will see after it clean it up. took the fenders and some of the little parts to the painter, he doesnt want the the body yet, that will be next. here are some before pics of the engine tins and engine will post again when it is back together. Also will be installing rebuilt SVDA dizzy.
