Here is a couple shots of the engine. I ordered new tail pipes authentic made in W. Germany from a vendor on here. got the heat exchangers and muffler done. set the dwell on the points and timed it adjusted idle and runs nice. Have to get some new plug wires. I have to put on the fresh air hoses and pre heat hose with the clamps other than that this is done.

No updates yet. Just waiting on some things right now. Like paint. I took my fenders and small things to the paint guy, I'm at his mercy, which is fine he isn't going to kill me on labor. So once fenders are done going to get the trunk and deck lid done then main body. I will be working on getting the seat frames painted, new horse hair, and covers. _________________ 69 bug restoration thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=387230&highlight= |

How did you remove all that horrible 40 year old glue on the floor panels and kick panels? When I ripped out my old carpet everything was covered and I haven't found anything that can remove it short of hours spent in awkward positions with a razor blade. |

Just a quick update. I have been at a stand still for awhile, however, the search for parts is never ending. I was able to find a thermostatic cable for my engine. Here are some pics.
Still waiting on my body guy. He is working on the fenders. I was down talking to him and helped a little to hold a fender while he was dollying some dents out of one of them. The rest were good he told me Taking alot longer than I figured, but he does do excellent work. So it will be well worth the wait. Also got my tax return, so obviously I had to buy something which was a complete interior kit from Jbugs. Should have arrived today, but the weather held it up. Looks like I will be expecting it Monday. _________________ 69 bug restoration thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=387230&highlight= |

Well, I was bored Saturday and since my passenger seat frame was painted and had new horsehair fiber, it ready for the covers, I decided to give it a go. Here is the result. sorry for the terrible pic.

Looks good. I am still glad I sold that bug to you. It would have become a Baja eventually if I had hung on to it. I never did like that distributer not enough advance. You gotta love Cal. cars. I am stoked you are gonna keep it the factory color. That engine was rebuilt by Joes buggy house in Grover beach Ca. When I had that beelte I ran one of my bus engines in it. Those drum brakes got a little mushy sometimes. Keep up the good work. Somebody much wiser than me said that bug should be saved. He was right. |
