Stay strong Jim. New beginnings are huge, but clearing the fog may require a long drive. Pack the contingency tools and keep them oiled. It's not just making it to the top of the mountain that counts, those tools will help you get down the other side. Grieving for you out here.

You've got a place in Northern California if that's required.

Hey Jim, hope all works out for the best.....

I went through this 6 years ago, I became so depressed that I practically gave all my projects away, 71 ghia, '60 bug conv., 57 chevy apache.

One good thing I did was giving/loaning my tools to my friends. was able to get them back....
Its 6 years later, I re-married, got a new garage/home, 57 oval, 66 deluxe bus, and happier than I ever was in my previous marriage.

One thing I learned from this ordeal was that by staying focused and true to myself , I got through it, and back to a great place.

Keep strong man

Hang in there Brother! I too have been through the same ordeal, 7yrs ago. As others are saying and as crazy as it all sounds there right. I sold my project to a very close friend of mine. It was an "all out sale" everything related to the project went with it, in an effort to "make things easier for her" by liquidating assets. I went over this with my attorney as well who suggested I get a noterized bill of sale. It works just need the paper trail to cover all angles.
In the end none of it all mattered though. I was prepared to lose everything and give whatever she wanted to keep my daughter and I together, we prevailed!

It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

Jim has not given up on his bus! He will stay with it and see it through like any proper long term project. I had the privilege of meeting Jim yesterday and was able to hook him up with a decent nose clip for his bus so he is one step further along with it. Best of luck to ya!

Yeah, I may never again post an update on this thread, so don't get your hopes up.

I have not worked on the bus. It reminds me of my wife and Neal, which I don't like to think about. I have dwelled on hating them for a long time, and while I know it is unhealthy, moving on is difficult.

If I do work on the bus again I will likely not share it on a forum where someone I loathe so much frequents.

It seems as though ironically you and the bus are in a similar state of affairs. At the expense of sounding like a total nut, your bus can be great and loyal friend. (I'm sure there are plenty on here who know were I am coming from) perhaps, the best thing you can do, would be to finish the bus and hit the road camping, as you planed to do initially! There is nothing like keeping active and an adventure to take your mind of things. Dont let the actions of a few define your life, clearly you have other supporters/friends on this site... kia kaha (stay strong)

^^ Sage advice
The best revenge you can exact on someone... is to have a good life.
another flip-side view...
The only people you should worry about getting even with... are the ones that have done something nice for you.

Leads me to one of my favorite humbling yet uplifting poems to share with you.... "Desiderata"

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
